"At the center of the terror is Carrie (Spacek), a high school loner with no confidence, no friends... and no idea about the extent of her secret powers of telekinesis. But when her psychotic mother and sadistic classmates finally go too far, the once-shy teen becomes an unrestrained, vengeance-seeking powerhouse who, with the help of her "special gift," causes all hell to break loose in a famed cinematic frenzy of blood, fire and brimstone!'

Another Must Own movie hitting Blu-ray today is Brian De Palma's classic coming of age story (lol), Carrie, which is being given the 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition treatment by Scream Factory.

Carrie is a classic Horror movie in every sense of the word, and this new Blu-ray edition looks like it's going to do it great justice, and then some. The idea of a new 4k scan alone makes us drool in anticipation.

This is a great movie, filled with all sorts of deaths by explosion, electrocution, and flying knives, with a finale filled with a gym full of burning students. Brian Depalma masterfully directs this Stephen King story, and gives us one of the best movies of the 70's. It's also pretty cool to see John Travolta as one of the jerks who gets what he deserves. The rest of the cast is great too, all around. The last scene in this movie gave me nightmares for weeks. when I was a kid.

What an excellent October movie.
